SM and DICT Launch Digital Corners

SM Supermalls and DICT Launch Digital Corners in SM Job Fairs
Bringing Digital Upskilling to Job Seekers and SHS Students

DICT Secretary Henry Aguda and SM Supermalls Vice President for Mall Operations Junias Eusebio formalized a strengthened partnership through a memorandum of understanding, marking the establishment of Digital Corners within SM Job Fairs. Both leaders also signed a Pledge of Commitment, reinforcing their dedication to creating real-world opportunities that equip young Filipinos with vital digital skills for the future.

Quezon City, Philippines — November 6, 2025.
SM Supermalls and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) have officially unveiled Digital Corners inside SM Job Fairs. The program debuted during the J.O.B.S. Immersion for SHS 2025 at the Skydome, SM City North EDSA.

These Digital Corners serve as free learning hubs inside job fair venues, offering open-access training in digital literacy, Python programming, basic networking, cybersecurity, online entrepreneurship, and Google Career Certificate courses. The goal is to help job seekers—especially Senior High School (SHS) students—gain future-ready competencies.

Junias M. Eusebio, VP for Mall Operations at SM Supermalls, shared:
“This elevates our mission from matching people to jobs to preparing them with the skills needed to thrive. By placing Digital Corners in malls, our job fairs become job-and-learning fairs—where opportunities and capabilities connect.”

The initiative is expected to support thousands annually as students transition from school to work and explore high-demand, tech-enabled career paths.

DIGITAL EMPOWERMENT BEGINS WITH SHS LEARNERS

Close to 1,000 SHS students from over 40 schools joined the event, accompanied by parents and teachers. The launch also introduced the Enhanced Work Immersion Pilot (EWIP), a collaboration among DepEd, PSAC, and SM Supermalls, with support from SM Retail.

EWIP extends SHS immersion hours from 80–320 hours to 420–640 hours, ensuring deeper, hands-on training. Industry partners help shape training modules so students can gain real-world skills in retail, hospitality, technology, and more.

Interactive booths from DICT and private sector partners allowed students to explore career options and upskilling pathways. Companies like SM Retail and Newport World Resorts offered mentorship, workplace insights, and career readiness workshops. A Digital Economy Showcase introduced students to future career opportunities in the rapidly evolving tech landscape.

SM MALLS AS OPPORTUNITY HUBS

Celebrating 40 years of Evolving With Every You, SM Supermalls continues to expand opportunities nationwide through accessible job fairs across 88 malls. More than just retail centers, SM malls have grown into community spaces that open doors to employment, build skills, uplift families, and support inclusive growth through strong partnerships with government and industry leaders.
